In March 1934, 26 year old Walter Lanier “Red” Barber began a sports broadcasting career on Powell Crosley’s radio stations, WLW and WSAI. In his first season with the Cincinnati Reds, Red gained the experience and style that would mark him as a Hall of Fame announcer and lead to the birth of a new profession: baseball play by play announcer. Marty Brennaman narrates this documentary about Red and his legacy.
