Cincinnati Public Radio

Remembering Frank Johnson:

With heavy hearts Cincinnati Public Radio mourns the passing of our friend and colleague Frank Johnson. The staff and listeners of WGUC and WVXU, as well as the Greater Cincinnati radio and music community – and science fiction fans everywhere - have lost a dear friend.

Frank was a true radio professional and aficionado of all types of music, especially jazz, his soul music. He loved movies – and traveling to Europe and visiting places so very different than Cincinnati. The classical music shops in England, Belgium and Netherlands were some of his favorite places. He especially enjoyed sharing classical music "secrets" with you, his loyal and appreciative audience.

His sense of humor was all his own and always found its way into his on-air presence and, now, his parting words to you -

"So long and thanks for all the fish!"

We will miss him dearly and extend our heartfelt condolences to Karen, his friends and family.

WVXU Media blogger John Kiesewetter posted this article about Frank at wvxu.org.

Fellow music host Elaine Diehl spoke with Frank in April, 2017 to learn more about his radio career and his love of movies, music and traveling. You can listen to that conversation here.
